PASAY CITY -- Following Senator Christopher "Bong" Go's short visit to extend assistance to hundreds of vulnerable residents in Barangays Leon Garcia, Governor Vicente Duterte, and Kapitan Tomas Monteverde, Sr., Davao City the previous day, the team of Senator Go conducted similar relief efforts to 200 struggling residents in Brgy. San Antonio on Saturday, September 4.

In his video message, he appealed to residents to strictly adhere to health protocols and get vaccinated immediately once eligible in order to help the country overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

Go in a video message.

Go's team grouped the beneficiaries into smaller batches and proceeded to hand out snacks, grocery packs, masks, face shields, and vitamins. In addition, some residents received new pairs of shoes and bicycles that they can use to conveniently travel to work or get their daily needs.

Senator Go's team also gave computer tablets to selected individuals as part of the Senator's commitment to providing underprivileged students access to quality education despite the limitations brought about by the pandemic.

Several representatives from different government agencies were also present and distributed other forms of assistance, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development who gave financial assistance while the Department of Agriculture provided harvested goods.

Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Labor and Employment conducted on-site evaluations wherein potential recipients will be given business opportunities through their respective livelihood programs.

Lastly, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will be giving scholarship grants to qualified individuals based on their assessment.

Salamat, Senator Bong Go," Roy Caling, one of the beneficiaries, shared in an interview.

To further assist locals with health concerns, Senator Go mentioned in his video message that residents may go to the Southern Philippines Medical Center and conveniently avail of medical assistance programs that are offered in the Malasakit Center.

Primarily authored and sponsored by Go, the Malasakit Centers Act was signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte to give particularly poor and indigent patients access to quality healthcare by covering various hospital services and fees.

'Yan ang Malasakit Center," he continued.

As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Go supported several infrastructure initiatives in the city to boost further economic development and improve public service delivery.

Among these are the improvement of water systems; drainage systems, flood control structures; multi-purpose buildings and roads in different barangays, as well as the construction of a 300-bed capacity infectious diseases building and provision of ambulances for the SPMC, and many more.

Concluding his message, Go expressed his gratitude towards Representatives Paolo Duterte and Vincent Garcia; Mayor Sara Duterte; Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte; Brgy. Captain Eduardo Alterado, and many other local officials for their hard work and joined efforts in making sure that their constituents get the support they need during these unprecedented times.

(OSBG)
