Meralco aids typhoon-hit Ilocandia

"We continue to provide support, especially in areas badly hit by Super Typhoon Egay…hopefully, in our small way, we can help affected communities recover and rebuild, providing them resources they need to cope in this difficult time," Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), vice president and head of corporate communications Joe Zaldarriaga said largest power distribution firm in the country, has extended support to communities and families affected by Super Typhoon Egay in Ilocos Norte.
Meralco deployed 32 engineers and linemen to help restore power and conduct clearing operations in the province.
Power firm conducted relief operations in areas severely affected by bad weather.
It deployed fleet of vehicles such as pickup and basket trucks as well as cranes to fast-track power restoration.
Meralco is coordinating its restoration works with local government units and power cooperatives.
Company's social development arm, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), along with MVP Group of Companies mobilized relief operation to address needs of typhoon victims.
Group has so far donated 1,150 relief packs, water filtration devices, hundreds of six-liter bottles of clean water, 550 health kits and an mWell OnTheGo package.
OMF is closely working with representatives of local government units to ensure efficient distribution of donations.
