Our musical director often tells us that in order for a choir to sound well, everyone must know when to come in, use the proper breathing techniques, hit the right notes, modulate one's voice correctly, and pronounce the words clearly, among others. In short, discipline and consistency are the keys. The same is true in our spiritual life. We must strive to be on the right path by disciplining ourselves in living out the Christian way of life. We must be consistent in our prayer as we strive to deepen our relationship with the Lord.
In the Gospel, the wise virgins, who were disciplined and consistent in waiting for the arrival of the bridegroom, reaped the reward of having the privilege to enter and partake in the wedding feast. Let us pray that, like them, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we may remain steadfast in following the path of Christ as we joyfully wait for His coming.
