"…But he passed through the midst of them and went away."
Going against the current is always a challenging task. But sometimes, it is God's call for us. Standing for what we believe in as true and right is often an experience of "going against the current."
When I decided to enter the seminary and heed the call to priesthood, it was considered a foolish decision from a worldly perspective. I had faced disapproval and opposition. As a seminarian now, I am not exempt from experiencing rejections especially when we uphold the the Church's teachings.
God can put us in situations that go against the current to purify our motivations and intentions and test our convictions. In these situations, I realize that I must speak and act not for my sake but for the truth of the Gospel - Jesus Christ who compels me not to falter.
