KASIBU, Nueva Vizcaya, July 1 -- Sixty three (63) agrarian reform beneficiaries are now certified landowners after they finally received their Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in a distribution rite held here.
DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Dindi Tan said a total of 111.75 hectares of agricultural lands were distributed to 63 farmer-beneficiaries.
"This is just the first step towards true agrarian reform. There is no more room for them to get hungry. They already have all the resources – all they need is to cultivate and make it productive," Tan said.
She encouraged the farmers to avail of various programs of the DAR which can further help them achieve economic resiliency and increase their agricultural production. These include credit facilitation with a low-interest rate and common service facilities, among others.
After receiving the land titles, the beneficiaries were informed about their duties and responsibilities, including payment of amortization and real property taxes.
DAR Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Cesar Cortez left three strong points to challenge the farmer-beneficiaries: First is their responsibility and obligation as ARBs, second, they must make their lands productive, and lastly, they must pay their taxes.
"Take care of this blessing from the government. Make it productive. The government has many programs for farmers and working hard on it should be your priority. Come to our offices if you need our help about your land," Cortez said. (DAR)
