WHAT'S the latest in the country's preparations in the coming Tokyo Paralympics?
Find out the answers from Commissioner Arnold G. Agustin of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in this Thursday's "Usapang Sports on Air" by the Tabloids OrganIzation in Philippine Sports (TOPS) via Zoom.
Agustin will discuss the Filipinos' participation in the international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities scheduled on Aug. 24-Sept. 5 in Tokyo.
Five Filipino para-athletes -- Ernie Gawilan (swimming), Allain Ganapin (taekwondo), Jerrold Mangliwan (wheelchair racing), Jeanette Aceveda (discus throw) and Gary Bejino (swimming) -- have already booked their tickets to Tokyo.
Maniwan, Aceveda and Bejino earned their tickets thru the invitation of the Bipartite Commission, which allows para-athletes who were not given a chance to qualify for the Paralympics due to "extraordinary circumstances."
Attending the second part of the session are Tokyo Oympics-bound shooting champion Jayson Valdez, who will talk about his chances in the prestigious event; and 2021 Asian Taekwondo poomsae bronze medalist Rodolfo Reyes, Jr., who will share his experiences in the tough taekwondo competition held in Lebanon.
TOPS president Ed Andaya of People's Tonight is inviting all officers and members and friends in the sports community to join the weekly public service program.
This is the 26th session for the year by TOPS, which is composed of editors, columnists, reporters and photographers of the country's leading national tabloids and friends from different social media groups.
The weekly sports program is sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Games and Amusements Board (GAB) andlivestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.
