MANDALUYONG CITY, June 29 -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) dispatched 2 ambulances, manned by 4 volunteers and 4 staff, to a fire in Brgy. San Antonio, San Pedro, Laguna last night, June 28, 2021.

The 3 alarm blaze, which started around 6 PM, damaged four industrial and commercial buildings and affected around 150 individuals. Fire was declared out around 8:30 PM.

The PRC has more than a hundred chapters nationwide, making responses to such incidents faster and more efficient.

"It is our goal to have the Red Cross in every corner of the country. This will greatly help in times of disaster and make life-saving interventions get there in time where it is most needed. Our Operations Center is open 24/7 and this makes the quick dispatch of fire trucks and ambulances possible. Kung saan may malapit na para pwede pumunta, yun ang tatawagan upang makapagpadala ng tulong," Gordon further explains the PRC's network of chapters and how response is made faster.

Red Cross teams assessed the damage and provided hot meals to affected individuals.

The PRC has assisted in more than a hundred fire incidents since January of this year. (PRC)
