The Malnutrition Prevalence Rate or MPR of the province of Palawan, decreases in 2021. This was reported by Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, Rachel Paladan at the Provincial Nutrition Council-Technical Working Group (PNC-TWG) meeting.

The PNC-TWG was recently convened by the Provincial Nutrition Committee headed by Board Member, Eduardo Modesto Rodriguez as Committee Chairman of the Committee on Health in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Palawan.

According to the data presented by Paladan, the MPR of Palawan has significantly reduced the number of underweight and severely underweight Palaweño children.

Palawan has recorded 7.05% for 2021 which is lower compared to 2020's 8.65%, despite the huge challenges facing the province, when it comes to malnutrition and the pandemic caused by COVID-19. The MPR is obtained from the results of Operation Plus Timbang conducted annually on children aged 0-71 months, by the Provincial Nutrition Office in collaboration with the Barangay Environment Agriculture and Nutrition Scholars or BEANS.
