With the arrival of more COVID-19 vaccines from the Department of Health (DOH), alongside vaccines procured by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), thousands of residents in the province have already received their first jab of coronavirus vaccine through the 5-day mega vaccination rollout program held at the Divine Word College of Laoag Gymnasium, Laoag City.
Among the recipients was Mrs. Lorenzana Miguel, an 82-year-old resident of Brgy. 39, Sta. Rosa, Laoag City who applauded PGIN's initiative on the mass vaccination rollout:
"Talagang mabilis at maayos itong mega vaccination ng Provincial Government. Maganda ang naisip nila [PGIN], lalong-lalo na si Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, na pagtulong sa aming mga nangangailangan ng bakuna. Lubos ang pasasalamat namin dahil mayroon na kaming proteksiyon laban sa COVID-19."
The 5-day vaccination rollout for Laoag City residents that started last July 20, has prioritized those who belong to A1, A2, and A3 categories based on the vaccination program prioritization framework of the DOH. The rollout program will end tomorrow, July 24.
As of July 16, almost 17,000 residents from priority groups A1, A2, A3, and A4 throughout the province have been fully vaccinated.
