CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City, July 5 -- In line with its resolve to produce world-class leaders, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) launched Book 2 of the Filipino Military Leadership (FML) on Friday at the AFP Education, Training and Doctrine Command (AFPETDC).

The AFP Chief of Staff General Cirilito Sobejana graced the launching ceremony held during AFPETDC's academic lecture series.

"The FML Book 2 provides us insights of the kind of leadership every member of the AFP should internalize and practice. It aims to provide fundamental and comprehensive knowledge in decision-making in order for the AFP to produce professional and ethical leaders," General Sobejana said.

The book which carries the theme "Integrity in Decision-Making" was published by the AFPETDC under the guidance of its Commander, Major General Edgard Arevalo.

The book also identifies different incidents and situational dilemmas that involved AFP key commanders, which highlighted crucial decisions made at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels.

"I hope this latest publication on leadership fundamentals will enable the AFP to continuously live up to the command's vision of becoming a world-class institution, producing leaders that shall not hesitate to protect the people and secure the state," General Sobejana said.

The importance of leadership development and the aggressive pursuit of leadership development programs continue to be among top priorities of the AFP since General Sobejana assumed as the 55th Chief of Staff.

The AFPETDC fulfils this mission by providing joint professional military education and training to the AFP and select professionals.

It also develops doctrines in order to contribute in the joint force development of the military towards academic and professional excellence.

Its latest symposium featured valuable lectures on leadership by Atty. Engelbert Caronan, Chief Executive Officer of the Development Academy of the Philippines, and Rev. Johnny C. Go, Professor of Philosophy and Religious Education.

"With the AFP's strong commitment towards leadership development, Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines will continue to exercise sound decision-making while strictly adhering to the rule of law, giving due respect to human rights, as well as strictly adhering to international humanitarian law," General Sobejana concluded.
