PASAY CITY, July 4 -- In continuation of its relief operations for the victims of recent calamities in Surigao del Sur, the Office of Senator Christopher "Bong" Go conducted another series of activities on Thursday, July 1, this time for the residents of Hinatuan and Tagbina who are still recovering from the effects of Typhoon Vicky that hit months ago.

His personnel handed out meals, vitamins, masks and face shields to a total of 27 beneficiaries, including two fire victims, at their respective municipal gyms. The activities were held in batches to ensure all health and safety protocols against COVID-19 were strictly observed.

Moreover, representatives from the National Housing Authority also provided each beneficiary with financial assistance through its Emergency Housing Assistance Program.

Importante talaga ngayon ang pagdarasal sa Panginoon," he continued.

The Senator, during his message, also encouraged those seeking medical treatment to enlist the assistance of his office. He informed them that they may conveniently avail of medical assistance from the government through the Malasakit Center at the Butuan Medical Center in Butuan City.

The center is a one-stop shop which aims to reduce a hospital bill to the lowest possible amount. Patients may conveniently avail of aid from various agencies, including the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Ending his remarks, the Senator thanked Hinatuan Mayor Shem Garay, Tagbina Mayor Generoso Naraiso and all local officials for their dedication and untiring service to their communities during these trying times.

He has supported the funding for the purchase and installation of street lights in Hinatuan and construction of a new multi-purpose building in each town to support their development.

From June 23 to 25, over six thousand residents affected by Typhoon Auring in San Miguel were likewise provided much-needed aid by Go's personnel.

Go also personally visited neighboring Surigao Del Norte province on Saturday, July 3 for the launch of the 125th Malasakit Center in Dapa town and distribution of aid to Farmers and Fisher Folks in Del Carmen. (OSBG)
