Petecio won via unanimous decision over Congo's Marcelat Sakobi Matshu, 5-0, to jumpstart her bid for the Olympic gold. Four judges scored 30-27 for Petecio while one judge gave 29-28. She will next face Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-Ting, who won the bronze in the 2019 world championship. Petecio won the gold in that edition.
