The government now has a sufficient supply of novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) doses to last until next month.
During the public address of President Rodrigo R. Duterte last Monday, National Task Force Against Covid-19 Carlito Galvez Jr. disclosed they currently have a reserved stockpile of 12.8 million jabs.
He said these doses are currently stored in warehouses and will be deployed to their target local government units (LGU).
"This 12.8 million doses will be good for 32 days if we will administer an average of 400,000 per day," Galvez said.
"So we will not be worried for the month of Aug. since we have ample supply [of vaccines]. What we are now looking for [is the supply] for Sept.," he added.
With the sufficient supply of jabs, the vaccine czar said they are now poised to exceed the number of doses they administered last month.
As of Monday, he said they already administered 4.3 million doses this month, which is already close to the 5.4 million last June.
Since the government started its Covid-19 vaccination drive last March, the government was already able to administer 15.1 million doses.
Of which, 10.4 million was used for the first dose, while the other 4.7 million was utilized as the second dose.
