GMA is known for its culture-themed series, which includes Amaya, set in the pre-Hispanic era, and Sahaya, which involves Badjao people. This time, it will tell the lives of Maranao people, their beliefs and culture with Legal Wives.

The upcoming series stars Dennis Trillo, with Alice Dixson, Andrea Torres and Bianca Umali as his leading ladies.
Legal Wives tells the story of a unique family where Ismael (Dennis), a man from a wealthy Maranao clan, marries three different women for various reasons. He marries his brother's widow Amirah (Alice) out of obligation. He soon falls in love with Diane (Andrea), a Christian woman, and marries her as well. He soon marries Farrah (Bianca) as a favor to an old friend and to protect the honor of the young woman. As they live in the same house, their love for Ismael will be put to a test through their different backgrounds and motivations.
Joining the powerhouse cast of Legal Wives are Derrick Monasterio, Ashley Ortega, Al Tantay, Juan Rodrigo, Irma Adlawan, Tommy Abuel, Maricar de Mesa, Bernard Palanca, Cherie Gil, Mon Confiado, Kiko Matos, Kevin Santos, Divine Aucina, Chanel La Torre, Racquel PareƱo, Melbelline Caluag, and Starstruck 7 avengers Abdul Rahman and Shayne Sava, with Alfred Vargas on a special participation role. The series is directed by Zig Dulay.
The series was slated to air last April. However, it was postponed twice; first due to the ECQ implemented in the Greater Manila Area, prompting all networks to temporarily put a halt to production for taped shows, with Heartful Cafe serving as its replacement; and again in June, with a replay of Endless Love serving as its replacement. It was only this month that the series is given the green light.
Knowing the past success of the lead cast, it will be another challenge for them, as well as the majority of the supporting cast, to portray as Maranao people. Starting this Monday, viewers will witness a story rich in culture and various kinds of love in this upcoming series.
