Luis Lee, 26, of New York City, New York, United States has been arrested. He was charged with narcotics distribution resulting in death.
On September 18, 2020, Pathjrie Ivette "Patty" Roman-Dodaj, 20, of Bronx, New York City contacted Lee on Instagram and asked for Xanax, an alprazolam brand, and a depressant or a downer. Before the day ended, he met her outside her apartment in the Bronx and delivered the Xanax and heroin, which was mixed with fentanyl.
On September 19, 2020, the New York City Police Department and emergency medical personnel found Roman dead at her Bronx apartment. Four glassines containing residue of fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl and heroin were found hidden inside her phone case.
According to the autopsy report of the New York City Medical Examiner, Roman died of acute intoxication from the combined effects of fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, heroin and alprazolam. Lee deleted the Instagram account that he had used to communicate with her after receiving a message about her death from another Instagram user on September 20, 2020.
When NYPD personnel executed a search of Lee's bedroom on November 11, 2020, they recovered 12 glassines containing fentanyl. The glassines matched the appearance of those hidden inside Roman's phone case.
On July 7, 2021, Lee was arrested and presented before U.S. Magistrate Judge James L. Cott. If found guilty, his sentence will be a minimum of 20 years in prison to a maximum of life in prison.

On May 24, 2012, Roman and her fellow Bronx resident Tiana Hartgrove were reported missing. They were both 12 years old at the time.
On February 27, 2019, Roman was arrested by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputy Joshua Abbott in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, USA. She was charged with theft of property valued at more than $5,000 but less than $25,000.
Roman gave birth to her first daughter in 2017 and to her second daughter in March 2020. Roman died two days before her 21st birthday.
