     Round 31-- Antipolo vs. Isabela, Laguna vs. Cavite, Manila vs. Cagayan, Caloocan vs. Olongapo, Pasig vs. San Juan, Quezon vs. Rizal, Camarines vs. Iriga, Lapu-Lapu vs. Iloilo, Mindoro vs. Cordova, Cebu vs. Negros, Palawan vs. Zamboanga, Surigao vs. Toledo.

WITH the top teams already assured of the playoff berths, attention shifts to the battle for the remaining berths in the next round in the 2021 PCAP-GM Wesley So Cup chess championships this Wednesday.
With only five rounds left in the elimination phase, five teams have already clinched playoff berths in the Northern Division, while six teams have booked playoff slots in the Southern Division.
Already assured of playoff berths in the North are San Juan Predators (27-2), Manila Indios Bravos (25-4), :Aguna Heroes ( 23-6), Caloocan Load Manna Knights (23-6) and Antipolo Cobras (20-9).
Camarines Soaring Eagles (24-5), Cordova Dagami Warriors ( 24-5), Iloilo Kisela Knights (23-6), Negros Kingsmen (19-10), Zambonga Sultans (17-12) and Toledo Trojans (115-14) are expected to make it to the next round.
That leaves the Pasig Pirates, Isabela Knight Raiders, Cagayan Kings and Cavite Spartans in the North, and Palawan Queen's Gambits, Lapu-Lapu Naki Warriors, Cebu Machers, Surigao Checkmates, Mindoro Tamaraws and Iriga City Oragons in the South fighting for their playoff lives.
Wednesday's crucial matches will pit Pasig against Cagayan, Isabela against Manila, Cavite against Olongapo, Palawan against Cordova, Lapu-Lapu against Camarines, Cebu against Surigao and Mindoro against Iriga.
The second part of the doubleheader will see Antipolo against Isabela, Manila against Cagayan, Pasig against San Juan, Camarines against Iriga, Lapu-Lapu against Iloilo, Mindoro against Cordova, Cebu against Negros, Palawan against Zamboanga and Surigao against Toledo.
The top eight teams after the elimination round will advance to the playoff matches with the No. 1 team battling the No. 8 team.
It will be No. 2 vs. No. 7, No.3 vs No. 6 and No.4 vs No. 5 in other playoff pairings.
PCAP is headed by President- Commissioner Atty. Paul Elauria, Chairman Michael Angelo Chua and Vice Chairman Ariel Potot.
