The Rotary Club of Surigao City led by their new President Antonio "Jun" Supera Jr. successfully launched the Rotary Day of Service to the people of Barangay Laurel in the municipality of Taganaan, Surigao del Norte last Monday, July 12, 2021.

Punong Baranggay Ronald S. Jamito expressed his deep gratitude to the organization for bringing the services to their community especially the giving of flashlights and raincoats to the barangay tanods.

Personnel from Surigao del Norte Provincial Health Office, Caraga Regional Hospital and the Rural Health Unit of Taganaan conducted a blood letting at the barangay covered court. July is a National Blood Donor's Month and the club sponsored this activity to augment the scarce supply of blood at Caraga Regional Hospital.

July is also the first month of the "Life Changing" Rotarians for the Rotary Year theme Serve to Change Lives. The different Rotary Clubs around the world serve communities guided by the 6 areas of focus:

  1. Peace and conflict prevention/resolution;
  2. Disease prevention and treatment;
  3. Water and sanitation;
  4. Maternal and child health;
  5. Basic education and literacy;
  6. Economic and community development
