The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) encourages adequate education regarding the state of health of indigenous peoples (IPs).

In his message at the kick-off of the Nutrition Month celebration in Central Luzon, DOST Regional Director Julius Caesar Sicat said that among those encouraged to have an education are state universities and colleges to directly know the current state of health of the IPs.

He said that if there is enough education, it will be easy to identify and deliver the health programs and services needed by them from various government offices.

He said the DOST has community empowerment through Science and Technology Programs that can provide vegetables or plants to be grown in tribal communities that will benefit and help improve the nutrition and health of the indigenous people.

Sicat clarified that there are needs to be a specific response or intervention to provide the right solution to the current state of living of the indigenous people specifically for their health and nutrition.

He also said that their agency is trying to help the needs of indigenous people in remote areas, who are in need of necessities such as food and medicine.
