ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Department of Health in Region 9 (DOH-9) on Friday received another shipment of vaccines consisting of 1,528,190 Sinovac and Pfizer doses from its central office.

Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH-9 assistant regional director, said this is the 28th batch of vaccines consisting of 1,520,000 doses of Sinovac and 8,190 doses of Pfizer.

Alpichi said that they have so far received a total of 2,374,960 doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines since they started the inoculation roll out this March.

Alpichi said majority of the vaccines they received was Sinovac with a total of 2,031,600 doses; AstraZeneca with 170,700; Janssen, 109,200; Pfizer, 47,460; Gamaleya, 8,100; and, Moderna, 7,900.

Meanwhile, he urged the public to continue the strict compliance with minimum health protocols to prevent the spread of infections, especially with the presence of the more transmissible Delta variant.

Authorities in the province of Zamboanga del Sur have recorded on Wednesday the second case of Delta variant of Covid-19 in Pagadian City, the capital of the province.

Zamboanga del Sur Governor Victor Yu disclosed that the second Delta variant case is a 23-year-old seafarer from Barangay Dumagoc, Pagadian City, based on the report submitted to him by the provincial health office.

Yu said the seafarer was immediately transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) of the DOH and has again undergone RT-PCR test.

The Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (RESU) of DOH said that the result of the August 25 RT-PCR test is expected to be released on August 30.

The first case was a returning 22-year-old male overseas Filipino worker (OFW) also from Pagadian City, who has already recovered, according to Yu. (PNA)
