Hidilyn Diaz became the first Filipino weightlifter athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics and now, according to several newspapers, she's going to be rewarded for her achievement.
She will receive an incredible 660,000 dollars prize, along with two houses.
Diaz broke an Olympic record at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Monday (26 July), lifting 127kg to seal victory in the women's weightlifting 55kg competition.
According to several news, the gold medallist will receive a cash prize from the Filipino government and from other of local businessmen. It was said that the prize money will be guaranteed to any Filipino, if they were to win gold but this is the first time it has happened.
Aside of this, she will also be given a house in Tagaytay granted by the Philippine Olympic president Abraham Tolentino.
If that wasn't enough, another house was gifted by Chinese Filipino billionaire Andrew Lim Tan - a luxury 280,000 dollars condo in Eastwood City.
According to the filipino newspapers, the 30-year-old was forced to spend money and seven months in Malaysia, away from her family in the Philippines, because of Covid travel restrictions. But this huge reward for her effort it is beyond all logic in a time of great difficulty for the country.
