Joshua Lee Green, 31, of Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas, United States has been arrested by the Arlington Police Department. He was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.

At around 7:30 p.m. on August 16, 2021, Green was driving a white four-door Cadillac with stolen Texas plates, which was pulled over by Clay County Sheriff's deputy Breanton Chitwood outside of a truck stop in Jolly, Clay County, Texas. When Chitwood approached the car, he was allegedly shot by Green.

The bulletproof vest Chitwood was wearing prevented serious injury. He was able to return fire as the Cadillac fled.

"To the guy who did this today, you didn't get my guy," Clay County Sheriff Jeff Lyde said during a press conference that day. "You shot him in the vest. You didn't get him but we are going to get you."

On August 17, 2021, the Cadillac driven by Green was found with bullet holes in the rear window in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. An arrest warrant for him was issued in the evening.

On August 18, 2021, U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force members located Green at a hotel in Arlington. He was apprehended and taken into custody after a brief foot foot chase across I-20 in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex community, according to Arlington Police Department media relations coordinator Tim Ciesco.

Green was booked into Arlington City Jail. His bail was set at $750,000.
