After a short ceremony and awarding of the blessing, Mayor German Rodegerio immediately distributed 27 new Mitsubishi L300 ambulances or rescue vehicles to all barangays in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro conducted in Brgy. Sta. Maria recently.
The mayor said in his speech, "13 units first arrived on January 25 and I did not immediately distribute them because I wanted to complete everything. And this is what we have been waiting for the most, the 14 more vehicles that we have purposely allocated for all 27 barangays in our dear town. "
Rodegerio added that the goal is to make it easier to transport the people of the barangay to the hospitals, so that they can be immediately covered by the initial space and there is no need to borrow or call the hospitals for ambulance.
He said that the funds used to purchase the ambulances, came from the 20 percent development fund and five percent came from the Municipal Risk Reduction Management fund of the local government.
Funding for the project also includes the allocation of P20,000 annual budget which is set for the gasoline allowance of ambulances which will serve as financial assistance, while the insurance and maintenance funds will come from the barangay fund.
