To cap off the 43rd celebration of National Disability and Rehabilitation Week in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) distributed assistive mobility equipment poor Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the region.
The distributed equipment comprises of wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and canes.
On the 5th of August, MSSD distributed 46 other assistive equipment to PWDs in the towns of Pagalungan, Parang, and Matanog in the province of Maguindanao. MSSD also distributed the same equipment to 243 PWDs in other areas in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, and Special Geographic Area in North Cotabato.
MSSD is also set to distribute 650 more to other provinces in the region, 305 of the said number are for Tawi-Tawi, 100 for Sulu, and 245 for Basilan.
On the other hand, on August 6, MOH provided the same equipment to 21 PWDs in Lanao del Sur. It is part of 217 devices and 70 packages of hygiene kits provided by the ministry to the Provincial Health Office.
MOH also provided 79 wheelchairs and 98 of these for the city of Marawi.
According to MOH Minister Dr. Bashary Latiph, the said distribution shows that the BARMM government continues to care for PWDs in the region.
