The Department of Agriculture, IV-CALABARZON (DA-4A) distributed 40 female buffaloes to the Pederasyon ng Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Magsasaka at Mangingisda para sa Kaunlaran ng Bondoc Peninsula in the municipality of Padre Burgos, Quezon on August 11.
According to DA-4A, the buffaloes worth P1.4 million were distributed under its Livestock Program. It will be multiplied by the federation until all its members have the said farm animal.
Mr. Armando M. Ramos, the president of the federation, formally received 40 buffaloes in Unisan, Quezon from the DA-4A Livestock Program Coordinator, Dr. Jerome G. Cuasay.
According to Ramos, "It is a big help to give us the buffalo. Even though there are machines, the buffalo still does not lose its benefits, because not all the time the machine is being used."
Dr. Cuasay said that apart from the buffaloes, the DA-4A will also provide the federation, a forage chopper worth P300,000.
In addition to this, an orientation on buffalo rearing and breeding for members will also follow.
