Hollywood actress Lisa Banes has died. She was 65.

.

A resident of California, United States, Banes was married to Kathryn Kranhold. Banes attended The Julliard School on Lincoln Center Plaza in New York City, New York, USA.

On June 4, 2021, Banes was crossing Amsterdam Ave. at W. 64th St. near Lincoln Center in New York City, New York, United States when she was struck by an unlicensed electric scooter. She was visiting friends in New York and was on her way to visit The Julliard School.

Brian Boyd, 26, of Upper West Side, New York City was caught on camera wearing a black tie-dye hooded sweatshirt heading north on Amsterdam Ave. on the scooter that day. He was knocked off his scooter after blowing through a red light and slamming into Banes.

Knocked out of the crosswalk, Banes was bleeding from the head and lying face down on the asphalt. Boyd stood up, picked up his scooter and walked over to take a look at her as shown by surveillance footage.

Without helping Banes, Boyd drove away. He went directly to the Bolt Bike Shop near W. 148th St. in Sugar Hill where he had the sideview mirror of his electric scooter repaired.

Banes was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. She died on June 14, 2021.

On August 5, 2021, Boyd was arrested at his apartment in the Amsterdam Houses in the Upper West Side, which is near the street where he hit Banes on June 4, 2021. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Represented by Angela Harris, Boyd was almost set free after appearing before Judge James Clynes in Manhattan Criminal Court on August 6, 2021. A prosecutor mistakenly advised the judge that Boyd had to be released without bail.

Later, Clynes set bail at $30,000 for Boyd. Harris still did not believe bail was necessary.

"Earlier, a mistake was made when the court was informed that this was not bail-eligible so that prior decision was as mistake," the New York Post quoted Clynes as saying. "I'm now correcting that mistake."
