To increase local fish catch on yellow fin and skip jack commonly known as tuna, the local government in partnership with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- Caraga distributed today 2,800 pieces of fishing hooks to 46 fisherfolks of Barangay Lapinigan.
The said recipients of the fishing gear are identified fisherfolks engaged in tuna catching.
Meanwhile, more than 30 gallons of boat paints were also distributed to fisher-owners of fisher vessels in the same barangay. Paints shall be used in compliance with the color coding ordinance purposely for easy identification during seaborne patrolling and monitoring, rescue and retrieval operations and apprehension within the municipal waters.
The distribution activity was spearheaded by the Local Chief Executive Mayor Georgia D. Gokiangkee represented by SBM Chair on Agriculture and Fishery Hon. Francisco P. Jatulan Jr., Municipal Agriculturist Engr. Angelita M. Espinosa and Punong Barangay Leodegardo Millari, among others.
