Nesting pawikans at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park increases in number

To date, there are already eleven(11) nests found and recorded, and it's only halfway through the year. This speaks volumes of how well-preserved and protected the Park is for its land, air and sea inhabitants.

Turtle Cleanergy returns to lay her 3rd nest. The Hawksbill Turtle who was seen laying eggs last May 24, 2021 is now back to lay another batch of eggs at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park. The nest is believed to be Turtle Cleanergy's third nest.

It is a fact that no matter how far in the world marine turtles may wander, they will always find their way back to lay eggs in the same area where they were hatched.
 
Two pawikans were seen laying eggs last June 7 and 9, 2021 at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park, an eight-hectare ecological preserve managed by Davao Light and Power Co., Inc and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.. 

One of the turtles was Turtle Cleanergy, a rescued Hawksbill Turtle in 2017 who was last seen laying a clutch of eggs exactly two weeks prior to this sighting. This was the second time she was spotted laying her eggs but the nest is believed to be her third already.
 
Another interesting fact about Hawksbill Turtles is that they lay eggs in two-week intervals and since there are 3 nests falling under that same time span, all nests might have come from Turtle Cleanergy.

New turtle was found laying eggs at the Cleanergy Park. Another Hawksbill Turtle with no tag, was spotted laying her eggs at the pawikan sanctuary, also known as the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park in Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, last June 9, 2021. The turtle was given the name Turtle Hope and is believed to have laid her second batch of pawikan eggs.

The second pawikan nester was also seen in action but had no tag so it was given the name Turtle Hope. She laid eggs last June 9, and it is believed to be her second since another nest was found two weeks prior.

Weeks later, Davao Light was glad to welcome back Turtle Cleanergy to the park and lay her fourth and fifth nests.
