MORE than half of adult Filipinos surveyed by the OCTA Research in July said that they were willing to get vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) if there is a safe and effective vaccine available to them.

"This is a significant 34 percent increase from the low 19 percent vaccine willingness posted in the first quarter Tugon ng Masa survey conducted last January 2021," said OCTA in a statement.

Survey results also showed a 30 percent decrease in the number of people who are not willing to get vaccinated, from 46 percent in January to only 16 percent this July.

However, 18 percent of the respondents said that they are still undecided on whether or not to get vaccinated.

Of the respondents, 13 percent have received either one or two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine at the time the survey was conducted.

Moreover, not being sure of the safety of the vaccine remained the top reason why adult Filipinos will not have themselves vaccinated against Covid-19, at 78 percent.

Twenty-two percent of the respondents also cited that not being sure about vaccine effectiveness led to their unwillingness to get vaccinated.

OCTA conducted face-to-face interviews all over the country with 1,200 respondents, aged 18 years old and above. The survey has a margin of error of +-3 percent and a 95 percent level of confidence.
