The vaccination against COVID-19 of tourism frontliners and workers in Palawan has already begun, particularly in the Municipalities of Coron, El Nido, San Vicente and Puerto Princesa.
Its commencement yesterday, 03 August, through ceremonial vaccination was personally witnessed by National Inter-Agency Task Force Deputy Chief Implementer Secretary Vivencio 'Vince' Dizon and Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
They first visited the town of Coron, followed by El Nido and San Vicente, and finally went to Puerto Princesa City before the officials finally returned to Manila.
During the ceremonial vaccinations of the said areas, ten tourism frontliners and workers were vaccinated with SinoVac vaccines.
Dizon and Puyat's visit to Palawan is also in support of the National IATF in the reopening and gradual reopening of the tourism industry.
In the message of Sec. Dizon in El Nido, it told Palawan officials that when vaccines arrive from the national government and COVAX facilities they will be vaccinated immediately to the priority groups to be able to protect them against COVID-19.
Dizon also said that DOT Secretary Puyat really pushed to prioritize tourism frontliners and workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
According to Puyat, vaccination is the only key to starting tourism again. He said this will continue until everyone in El Nido is vaccinated because everyone in El Nido is tourism frontliners and workers.
