THE Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday logged 11,021 additional Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 1,649,341. This, as the National Capital Region and Calabarzon went under the strictest quarantine classifications for the second day amid fears the spike in infections had yet to peak.
There were also 9,194 recoveries and 162 deaths.
Of the total number of infections, 4.6 percent (76,063) are active cases, 93.6 percent (1,544,443) have recovered, and 1.75 percent (28,835) have died.
The DOH said that 15 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 14 are recoveries.
In addition, 10 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count. These 10 are recoveries.
Moreover, 8 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases and 94 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
All laboratories were operational on August 5, 2021 but 3 were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.
Based on data in the last 14 days, the 3 non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.3 percent of positive individuals.
