Fredi Lucero, 19, and Gladys "Lizzy" Elizabeth Orosco, 20, were in a dating relationship when they were living together in a residence on Eucalyptus Avenue in Riverside, California, United States. Riverside Police Department officers found her suffering from a gunshot wound inside the residence on July 22, 2021.

Lucero is accused of fleeing the house after fatally shooting Orosco, who was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics with the Riverside Fire Department. The couple had an argument earlier that day, according to Riverside Police Department spokesperson Ryan Railsback.

Hours after the shooting, Lucero was arrested near Spruce Street and the 91 Freeway in Riverside, booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and charged with murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment.

On September 21, 2021, Lucero will appear in court for a felony settlement hearing. He is being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, California in lieu of $2 million dollars bail.
