PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher "Bong" Go urged households to avail of the free COVID-19 vaccines following President Rodrigo Duterte's announcement that vaccinations would be opened to the general population starting October.

Go reminded families not to hesitate in getting vaccinated and trust health experts who have vouched for the safety and efficacy of vaccines available in the country.

In a video message at an outreach effort for indigent residents in Asingan, Pangasinan on Tuesday, September 28, Go further encouraged those who have not been vaccinated to take the opportunity to get protected through vaccination.

The Senator's staff provided meals, vitamins, masks, and face shields to a total of 3,152 beneficiaries, composed of persons with disabilities, senior citizens, solo parents, patients with chronic illnesses, market vendors and members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association.

The activities were conducted in batches at the Francisco Sapigao Memorial Sports Complex and Narciso R. Ramos Elementary School in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols. A similar operation was also earlier held in San Carlos City from August 19 to 20, during which Go's staff provided aid to 5,000 economic frontliners.

Selected residents were given new pairs of shoes while some received bicycles from Go's team. Others were also provided computer tablets which their children can use for studying under the blended learning set-up.

Furthermore, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development were likewise present and provided each beneficiary with financial assistance in a separate distribution.

"Isa akong magsasaka…

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, the Senator offered to assist those who need medical care. He encouraged other residents with health-related concerns to visit the Malasakit Center at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City where they may conveniently avail of further assistance for their medical expenses.

The center is a one-stop shop for the government's medical assistance programs. Its partner agencies include the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

The Senator ended his message thanking various officials for the support they extended to their constituents. Among these were 6th District Representative Tyrone Agabas; Mayor Carlo Lopez Jr.; Vice Mayor Heidee Chua; Councilors Athena Chua, Marivic Robeniol, Mel Lopez, Johnny Carig, Jesus Pico, Mark Abella, Melchor Cardinez Sr., and Joselito Viray; Association of Barangay Captains President Leticia Dollente; and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Fiel Cardinez, among others.

In demonstration of his continuing commitment as an adopted son of Pangasinan, Go has supported many local infrastructure initiatives in his capacity as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance to boost economic growth and improve public service delivery.

He supported the construction of drainage or concrete line canals in Asingan, Anda, and Alaminos City; concreting of farm-to-market and local roads in Aguilar, Mangaldan, Natividad, Alaminos City, and Dagupan City; rehabilitation of existing roads in Balungao, Pozorrubio, San Jacinto, and Umingan; construction of slope protection structures along the Cabatuan River in Bugallon and Marusay River in Calasiao; and rehabilitation and construction of a flood control structure in the Dagupan River.
