Cavite State University Hornets

THE Cavite State University Hornets captured one gold, two silvers and one bronze medals in the recently-concluded Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) National University Karate Virtual Kata Championship held last Oct.27-28.
Ichi Ann Denniece Aquino shone brightest for the Hornets as she bagged the gold medal in the women's individual kata in the prestigious competition which attracted 10 state universities all over the country.
The 20-year-old Aquino dedicated her triumph to her parents, Philippine Karate League (PKL) founder and head master Dennis Aquino and Ecel Bono-Aquino, and uncle, former PKL president Dave Aquino, who celebrated his 39th birthday.
A second year BS Medical Technology student, Aquino was one of four Cavite karatejas who did well in the virtual kata championships supported by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC).
Sharing the limelight were Julia Tadeo, who brought home the silver medal in women's kata; John Ralph Cauilan, who pocketed the silver in men's kara; and AJ Bacosa, who earned the bronze in men's kata.
Coach of the Hornets is Sensei Justine Tristeza.
Aside from Cavite State University , the other participants came from Technological University of the Philippines, Batangas State University, University of Caloocan City, Bataan Peninsula State University, University of Rizal System, Southern Luzon State University, Iloilo Science University, Mountain Province State University and Benguet State University.
The tournament served as qualifying tournament for the 20th ASEAN University Games scheduled in Ratchathani, Thailand on July 26-August 6, 2022. Robert Andaya
