PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher "Bong" Go continued to provide assistance to more struggling residents in Davao City as he sent his team to deliver aid in Barangays Fatima, Sumimao, and Malabog on Thursday, October 7.

In his video message, the senator urged the public to participate in the national vaccination program, reassuring that the government is continuously getting sufficient supplies of vaccines to ensure the protection of more Filipinos.

He stressed the importance of getting inoculated against COVID-19 as it not only boosts the body's defenses but also reduces the risk of getting severe symptoms.

"Habang patuloy tayong nagbabakuna, 'wag tayo maging kumpiyansa dahil delikado itong COVID-19. Iyan ang hiling namin palagi ni Pangulong Duterte," said Go.

Kailangan natin magmalasakit at magbayanihan.

Senator Go, who is also the Chair of Senate Committee on Health and Demography, encouraged the residents of Davao City to seek medical care at Southern Philippines Medical Center where there is a Malasakit Center available to assist them with their hospital bills.

Signed into law in 2019, Republic Act No. 11463, otherwise known as the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, mandates the establishment of Malasakit Centers in all Department of Health-run hospitals and in the Philippine General Hospital. The centers aim to give Filipinos, particularly poor and indigent patients, convenient access to medical assistance programs offered by DOH, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Go's staff carried out the relief efforts at Malabog Proper Gymnasium, Paquibato District, where they gave meals, grocery packs, masks, face shields, and vitamins to a total of 1,500 residents.

Some recipients received new pairs of shoes and computer tablets from Go while others received bicycles.

In a separate distribution, a team from DSWD also gave financial assistance to the beneficiaries. In addition, the Department of Agriculture gave supplies of vegetable seeds, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority offered scholarship programs and trainings to qualified recipients.

Lastly, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Labor and Employment assessed potential beneficiaries for their respective livelihood programs.

As Go's team strictly implemented safety and health protocols, the beneficiaries were grouped into smaller batches to further prevent the spread of the virus.

The senator then thanked all local officials of the city for their service and support for those in need during these challenging times.

As Vice Chair of Senate Committee on Finance, Go supported several infrastructure projects, such as the construction of multi-purpose buildings in Brgys.
