First 'Banana Research and Tekno Forum held

The City Agriculture's Office of Panabo City held the first "Banana Research and Tekno Forum which is line with the city government's desire to help banana farmers in the city in partnership with the University of Southeastern Philippines -Tagum City.

The event held recently during the Binulig Festival tackled topics related to updates of research on the banana industry. New innovations that may be of use by the farmers in terms of tools and equipment was also discussed..

Agricultural Research section head Teresa B. Balmore said this activity is of great help for the farmers while Roiger C. Montejo, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Related Sciences of USEP-Tagum disclosed that among the equipment that they will share to the farmers would include Mechanical Banana Bagger, Banana Bell Injector, and Soil Injector. Part of the activity was the distribution of banana seedlings as well as fertilizers from Blacphil Planters, Yara Mira and others.The forum was held following the IATF rules and protocols issued in line with the Covid-19 pandemic.
