THE Philippines reported 9,055 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Tuesday, the first time it went below 10,000 in nearly two months although the Department of Health (DoH) attributed this to the low submissions of tests two days before.
The last time Covid cases in the country fell below 10,000 was on August 10 when the country reported 8,560.

No deaths were reported on Tuesday as the CovidKAYA system was still experiencing technical issues, with the DoH promising to give updates on the number of fatalities once the system is restored.
Only 41,673 samples were received by the DoH's systems on Sunday, 19.3 percent of which were found positive. Seven laboratories did not submit their data.
The total number of cases reached 2.613 million, of which, 103,077 are active, 2.471 million are recovered, and 38,828 are dead.
Of the active cases, 78.8 percent are mild, 11.4 percent, asymptomatic; 5.65 percent are moderate cases and the rest are severe and critical.
Use of the intensive care unit beds by Covid-19 patients remained at 72 percent, 59 percent for isolation beds and 62 percent for ward beds.
