MANILA, Philippines -- Vice President Robredo, the opposition presidential bet, is currently in talks with three Senate aspirants.

These are for Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares, Federation of Free Workers President Sonny Matula, and Kapatiran Party's Alex Lacson. This was revealed by former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat through a Viber message.

Colmenares confirmed with various news outlets that these are still ongoing discussions with no definite conclusions yet. Alongside, Matula also confirmed that talks are still continuing as 1Sambayan endorsed him to be part of Robredo's senatorial lineup.

Alex Lacson, a lawyer and NGO leader, was Kapatiran Party's vice presidential bet. He ultimately withdrew his candidacy in favor of Sen. Kiko Pangilinan. In a prior statement, he explained that running for VP will merely divide the votes of the opposition so he decided to support by running for Senate instead.

Baguilat expressed genuine interest in having Lacson, Matula, and Colmenares in Robredo's Senate slate in 2022. Having them on board means an extended coalition made of different parties. He said that it's better having the basis of unity be common values rather than political convenience.
