PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher "Bong" Go remained steadfast in his efforts to help more underserved communities. On October 11 to 13, Go's team conducted three-day relief activities for 2,844 poor residents of Minalin, Pampanga.

In a video message during the activities, Go called for continued bayanihan amid the ongoing pandemic. He also urged residents to get vaccinated to protect themselves against COVID-19.

"Magtulungan lang po tayo, magbayanihan po tayo at magmalasakit po tayo sa ating kapwa Pilipino. Ginagawa po lahat ng gobyerno para po malampasan natin itong krisis na ito. 'Pag nasa priority list na po kayo, magpabakuna na po kayo para po protektado kayo," said Go.

"Nasa datos naman po, 'pag bakunado kayo ay mas maiwasan po ang pagkahawa, maiiwasan po ang pagka-severe o pagkamatay dulot ng COVID-19. At pinag-aaralan po ng gobyerno ngayon na mas maluwag na restriction 'pag ikaw ay bakunado. Kaya magpabakuna na po kayo, libre po itong bakuna," he added.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go reminded Filipinos to strictly follow health preventive measures, even after getting fully vaccinated, to prevent the further spread of the virus.

"Pakiusap po namin ni Pangulong Duterte, kahit bakunado na po kayo, huwag pa ring maging kumpiyansa dahil hindi natin masabi, 'yung hindi pa bakunado ay maaaring mahawa. Doble ingat pa rin at ienganyo natin ang ating mga kasamahan na magpabakuna na," he said.

"Nakasalalay po sa ating lahat ang tagumpay sa laban kontra COVID-19. Mask, face shield, social distancing, at hugas ng kamay; kooperasyon at disiplina po ng bawat isa ang kailangan habang patuloy po tayong nagbabakuna," Go reminded.

Go also mentioned that there are Malasakit Centers in Pampanga where patients can conveniently access medical assistance programs from Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Health, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office found inside the Malasakit Center as a one-stop shop.

"Ang Malasakit Center po ay batas na, isinulong ko po noon, pinirmahan ni Pangulong Duterte. Ang Malasakit Center po ay one-stop shop, nasa loob na ho ng hospital 'yung apat na ahensya ng gobyerno at tutulungan po kayo, ang PhilHealth, PCSO, DOH, at DSWD. Zero balance po ang target ng Malasakit Center," said Go.

"Lapitan niyo lang ang Malasakit Center sa lugar ninyo kung kailangan ninyo ng tulong sa pampagamot. Alagaan po natin ang ating kalusugan. Tutulong po kami para masigurong mabigyan kayo ng nararapat na serbisyong pang-medikal," he added.

Malasakit Centers in Pampanga are located at Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in San Fernando City, and Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles City.

Go's staff then grouped the residents into smaller batches and implemented necessary safety and health protocols as they handed out relief items such as meals, masks, face shields, and vitamins. Some of them were also given new pairs of shoes, bicycles, or computer tablets for their children's educational needs.

Apart from the assistance given by the senator, the DSWD granted each resident with financial assistance to further help them overcome the pandemic.

Ending his message, Go expressed his gratitude towards the local government officials of Macabebe for making certain that their constituents are supported during this global health crisis.

As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go supported the infrastructure development of various regions to boost economic opportunities amid the ongoing pandemic.

Among those in Macabebe town are the construction of a two-storey multi-purpose building in Brgy. Sta Cruz; construction of a multi-purpose covered area in Brgy. Sta. Lutgarda; acquisition of new medical equipment for Domingo B. Flores District Hospital; and installation of streetlights.

For the province of Pampanga, Go also pushed for the construction of slope protection in Angeles City, Floridablanca, and Lubao; improvement and rehabilitation of roads in Apalit, Arayat, Candaba, Guagua, Lubao, Mexico, and Minalin; construction of multi-purpose structures in Arayat, Lubao, Mabalacat, Magalang, Masantol, Candaba, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, and Mexico; acquisition of a mini dump truck for Lubao; and many more.
