PASAY CITY -- On Friday, October 1, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go continued to show support for more low-income communities in Pangasinan as he sent his team to distribute assistance to thousands of vulnerable residents in the town of Rosales following their distribution in San Manuel the previous day.

In his video message, the Senator, who is the Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, assured the public the he will continue to fight for better health care for all, especially those in far-flung and rural communities.

He then reminded the residents of Pangasinan to look after their health and well-being and encouraged them to take advantage of the medical assistance programs offered in the Malasakit Center located at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop which brings together under one roof the agencies, namely the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, which help particularly poor and indigent patients with their medical expenses,

"Mga kababayan ko, mayroon na po tayong 141 na Malasakit Center sa buong Pilipinas. Tutulungan po kayo hanggang maging zero balance ang inyong billing. Lapitan niyo lang po ang Malasakit Center para po 'yan sa Pilipino," Go said.

Continuing his remarks, the Senator urged the public to get vaccinated as he cited that it will easily help the government to safely reopen the economy and relax restrictions once population protection and herd immunity are attained in communities.

"Mga kababayan ko, patuloy po ang pagbabakuna. Magtiwala ho kayo sa bakuna. Ang bakuna po ang tanging solusyon o susi para unti-unti na tayong makabalik sa ating normal na pamumuhay," appealed Go.

"Sa ngayon naman po, binabalanse po ng ating gobyerno ang buhay, kalusugan at ekonomiya. Importante po sa amin ni Pangulong Duterte ang buhay ng bawat tao," he continued.

To be able to efficiently serve a total of 2,829 beneficiaries, composed of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association members, market vendors, persons with disabilities, and displaced overseas Filipino workers, Go's team implemented necessary safety and health protocols and utilized two venues, namely Robert B. Estrella Covered Court and Rosales National High School.

Beneficiaries received meals, masks, face shields, and vitamins. Others got new shoes, bicycles, and computer tablets.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development gave each beneficiary financial assistance. The Department of Trade and Industry also conducted an on-site assessment to determine those eligible for its Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa program.

Lastly, the Department of Agriculture provided financial grants and other forms of assistance to the local community of Rosales to help various associations of farmers and fisherfolk.

Ariel Padilla Caramillo, 35, expressed his gratitude towards Senator Go for ensuring that poor communities are well-supported during these unprecedented times. Saying, "Ako po ay nagpapasalamat kay Senator Bong Go at kay Presidente Duterte sa binigay nilang tulong sa amin at malaking tulong na po ito sa amin kaya maraming, maraming salamat po."

To improve the delivery of public service and to further boost the economic development of the province, Go, being Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported the construction of multi-purpose buildings in Burgos, Natividad, Pozorrubio, and Urbiztondo; acquisition of dump trucks in Mangaldan, and Villasis; construction of local bridge in Sto. Tomas; construction of market stalls in San Quintin; and construction of drainage canals in Asingan, and Mangatarem.

He also supported the construction of farm-to-market roads in Aguilar, Calasiao, San Fabian, and Umingan; acquisition of medical equipment for Dialysis Center in Western Pangasinan District Hospital in Alaminos, and Dialysis Center in Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug; acquisition of ambulance units in Anda, Lingayen, and Mangaldan; and the installation of street lights in Binmaley, San Jacinto, and Villasis.

Ending his remarks, Go commended Representative Tyrone Agabas, former Representative Marlyn Agabas, Governor Amado "Pogi" Espino III, Vice Governor Mark Lambino, Mayor Susan Casareno, Vice Mayor Enrique Cosue Jr., and other local officials for their continued service to help their constituents recover from the challenges due to the global pandemic.

In December 2018, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Pangasinan passed a resolution, signed by Governor Amado Espino III, declaring Go as an adopted son of the province. (OSBG)
