Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Saturday said he will continue the "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure program of the current administration but will make it faster and cover more areas, if he wins in Eleksyon 2022.
Doing so will create more jobs and opportunities for growth, Moreno said.
"'Pag meron bagong tulay, highway, airport, sea port, at MRT, siguradong nandyan ang maraming trabaho at maraming opportunity para mas kumita ang tao. Yan naman ang prayoridad ng aking administrasyon, Buhay at Kabuhayan," he said during his visit to Cebu to meet with various sectors.
(When there is a new bridge, highway, airport, sea port, and MRT, for sure there will be more jobs and opportunities for livelihood. That is the priority of my administration -- life and livelihood.)
A key ingredient of "Dutertenomics," the Build Build Build program is meant to push for the golden age of infrastructure in the Philippines.
Moreno also said he plans to have more vertical mass housing, world-class hospitals and modern schools.
The Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer on Saturday visited the Cebu-Cordova Bridge, which, when completed, will be the country's longest bridge. Both sides of the multibillion-peso elevated toll road Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway's (CCLEX) 390-meter central span cable-stayed bridge were recently joined together.
The 8.98-km CCLEX which connects Mactan Island and Mainland Cebu is expected to be finished in March next year.
Moreno said building bridges to connect islands in Visayas will not only boost tourism; it will also turn the area into an economic center.
"Kapag iyon nangyare at naging sentro ng susunod na administrasyon na pagdikit-dikitin ang Visayas, hindi na lamang Luzon ang ating economic center. Visayas can be an economic center," he said.
(When that happens and the next administration prioritizes connecting the islands in Visayas, it won't just be Luzon which will be our economic center. Visayas can be an economic center.)
Moreno added infrastructure projects under his term will also be public-private partnerships (PPP).
"We need the private sector to invest more in infrastructure and they can build fast and it will save government resources which it can use for social services like health care and education," he said. --KG, GMA News
