OUT on his feet and unable to defend himself, the referee waved the contest at 1:05 mark of the 11th round.Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has unified WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF world super middleweight title following an eleventh round knockout over previously unbeaten Caleb Plant at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America. The win made Alvarez the first in history to unify world titles at 168 pounds, improving his record to 57-1-2 with 39 knockouts while Plant dropped to 21-1 with 12 knockouts.Plant dictated the tempo in the opening round by throwing jabs to the head and body while Alvarez moved forward, gauging what his opponent had to offer.Plant started throwing combinations in round two while Alvarez tried to get his offense going, moving his head to get past the jab. Plant outboxed Alvarez from round three onwards as he continued to throw his jabs to keep Canelo at bay and unleashed scoring combinations paired with side to side movement.Alvarez picked up the tempo in round 6, responding to his corner's instruction to fight with more urgency. His left hook and right straight on top finally found its mark though Plant was able to take the punches well.Alvarez stepped it up in round 8 by efficiently closing the distance then throwing bombs as soon as he got on the inside. Plant stuck to his game plan, moved around, and threw punches to keep Alvarez off of him.Canelo caught Plant with a big left hook followed by a right uppercut in round 11 that sent the latter crashing to the canvas. Plant was able to beat the count, only to be on the receiving end of Alvarez's onslaught.
