Ph reports 984 new COVID-19 cases; active tally 19K

SECOND lowest daily number of cases reported following 849 infections on November 16, 2021, Department of Health (DOH) logged only 984 new COVID-19 cases yesterday Monday, bringing Philippines' total tally to 2,826,853.

DOH data showed only 2.8% of 35,901 individuals tested were found positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, November 20,2021.

New  cases brought country's active case count to 19,798, of which 56.6% are mild, 4.6% are asymptomatic, 13.3% are severe, and 5.6% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries increased to 2,759,767 after 2,229 more patients defeated  viral disease.

Death  toll climbed to 47,288 with 218 new fatalities.

DOH also noted 447 duplicates were removed from  total case count, while 94 cases found to have tested negative have been removed from the total case count.

Meanwhile, 169 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

DOH said two laboratories were not operational on November 20, while three laboratories were not able to submit their data.

Latest data from  DOH also showed  32% of the country's intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 18% of  mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 31% of ICU beds are utilized, while 20% of  ventilators are in use.
