The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 2,656 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,800,621.

The Health Department said active cases stood at 34,866.

Based on reports on November 4, the DOH said the Philippines tested a total of 48,218 individuals, of whom 5.6% were positive.

Of these cases, 67.1% were mild, 5.6% were asymptomatic, 14.86% were moderate, 8.7% were severe, and 3.7% were in critical condition.

Total recoveries climbed by 5,130 to 2,721,516 while 154 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 44,239.

Data also showed that 42% of 4,000 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide were in use.

At least 27% of the 14,100 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 26% of the 4,000 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.

All laboratories were operational since November 4, while eight laboratories were unable to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System, the DOH said.

Twenty-one duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 20 are recoveries.

Meanwhile, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Saturday that the country could have as few as 22,000 active cases by November 15 if the current measures against COVID-19 are maintained.

Inversely, the country's active cases may reach 52,393 if mobility increases, Vergeire added.

The National Capital Region (NCR) would be under Alert Level 2 from November 5 until November 21, 2021. -- DVM, GMA News
