MANILA, Philippines -- The Manila city government recently acquired numerous anti-COVID drugs such as baricitinib, remdesivir, tocilizumab, and molnupiravir.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso and Vice Mayor Doktora Honey Lacuna personally received 6,600 tablets of the anti-COVI9-19 drug called Baricitinib on Friday, Nov. 26. This drug is prescribed for patients with moderate to severe COVID 19 symptoms.
Baricitinib will be available in the six district hospitals in Manila — Sta. Ana Hospital; Ospital ng Maynila; Gat Andres Bonifacio; Justice Jose Abad Santos; Ospital ng Sampaloc; and Ospital ng Tondo, as well as in Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital.
According to the Manila mayor, forty thousand capsules of molnupiravir will be given for free to Covid-19 patients after they present a doctor's prescription for the medicine, a positive RT-PCR test result, and a photocopy of the patient's valid identification.
"Pumanatag kayo dahil kasama niyo kami ni Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna at ang buong pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila dito sa ating kinakaharap na pandemya," Moreno said.
"Patuloy kaming magsisikap na maging mainam, masinop, at episyenteng mga lingkod bayan," the Mayor added.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found a 29-day shorter recovery time in a clinical trial on COVID-19 patients treated with baricitinib plus remdesivir.
