The Philippines on Wednesday registered 500 fresh COVID-19 cases, increasing the country's total caseload to 2,833,038.

This is the eighth straight day that the Philippines posted below 1,000 new COVID-19 infections.

The DOH's daily COVID-19 case bulletin also showed that the active cases decreased to 15,327, which is slightly lower than Tuesday's 15,800 active tally.

Of the 15,327 actival infections, 47.14% are mild, 4.9% are asymptomatic, 25% are moderate, 16.23% are severe, and 7% are in critical condition.

The Philippines also reported 951 additional COVID-19 survivors, bringing the total count of recoveries to 2,768,999.

Further, the total number of deaths climbed to 48,712, with 167 new fatalities.

The Philippines' positivity rate is still within World Health Organization's target of below 5%, with a 2.1% positivity rate.

The total conducted COVID-19 tests conducted all over the country were at 30,841.

Figures from DOH also indicated that 27% of the total intensive care units nationwide are in use while 28% ICU beds in Metro Manila are occupied.

For isolation beds, the Philippines also reported 26% occupancy rate while Metro Manila posted 22% utilization rate.

Meanwhile, nine duplicates, including eight recoveries, were removed from the total case count.

Also, 187 cases were found to be negative were removed from the total caseload. Of the number, 186 are recoveries.

A total of 147 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths, DOH indicated.

The DOH did not receive COVID-19 data from three laboratories while two laboratories were not operational on November 29, 2021.

These five labs, on an average, contribute 1.5% of samples tested and 1.0% of positive individuals, DOH also said.--LDF, GMA News
