The Department of Tourism (DOT) has given recognition to the Sorsogon Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) for the many projects it has undertaken, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
The recognition of the DOT regional office in Bicol, is related to the projects implemented by Sorsogon in the years 2019-2021.
According to the DOT-5, Sorsogon leads the entire region in tourism development projects. The corresponding PTO program was given to the affected tourism sectors during the pandemic.
In his reaction, Sorsogon Governor Francis "Chiz" Escudero thanked DOT-5 for recognizing the tourism-related projects in Sorsogon.
Escudero said the DOT has seen physical changes in the province during his three tenure as governor. The governor also praised the PTO, led by Bobby Gigantone.
Escudero also expressed his gratitude to his other colleagues in the provincial government and local governments in the province, for their cooperation and support in his tourism programs.
Escudero added that due to the continuous improvement of the situation especially with the decrease in COVID-19 cases in the province and in the country, the international and local borders are also gradually opening up.
The governor is confident that his office's efforts to put Sorsogon on the map of Bicol's beautiful sights, will not be wasted.
