MANILA, Philippines — Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcor Jr., son of the late dictator, has now proclaimed as the 17th President of the Philippines in a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, May 25.
This is the comeback of the Marcoses in Malacañang Palace after the 1986 People Power Revolution against Marcos' regime violence and electoral fraud.
The daughter of outgoing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Sara Duterte-Carpio, was also declared the elected 15th Vice President of the country.
The UniTeam campaign tandem, which promised to unite Filipinos once elected, won a majority out of over 55 million votes cast in the election. Marcos Jr. got more than 31 million votes, while Duterte got more than 32 million.
Marcos Jr. also asked for prayers and well-wishes from Filipinos, citing that he wants to "do well for this country."
"I promise you that we may not be perfect, but we will always strive to perfection," he told reporters after his proclamation."
"I am humbled because, for anyone in public service or in a public life, the most valuable you may receive from fellow citizens is their vote because embedded in that vote are their hopes and aspirations for the future."

"So I ask you all, pray for me, wish me well. I want to do well because when a president does well, the country does well, and I want to do well for this country," the 64-year-old incoming President added.
Marcos also mentioned that the 2022 Elections are the best-run elections because, according to him, it has truly reflected the voice of the people and the people's choice.
"I am inspired by this responsibility that has been given me."

Marcos has yet to announce a date for his inauguration, although he is supposed to assume office by June 30, 2022.
Both newly elected highest officials did not attend any Commission on Elections (COMELEC)-sanctioned presidential debates during the campaign period. The incoming administration's in-depth plans for the country for the next few years are yet to be determined. However, Marcos Jr. had previously mentioned that he will be focusing on energy prices, jobs, infrastructure, and education, while Sara Duterte has accepted Marcos Jr.'s offer to take over the Department of Education (DepEd) once they assumed seats.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo, the main Rival of Marcos Jr. during the elections, placed second with more than 15 million votes. She is currently in New York with her three daughters for vacation. The Vice President camp affirmed that Robredo is not conceding defeat yet, but they promised to respect the majority's decision while looking at the possibility of electoral fraud. Robredo has also announced that she will launch 'Angat Buhay Foundation' after VP term.
