The Philippines logged 1,317 new COVID-19 cases from May 23 to May 29, 2022, 8.8% higher than the cases reported the previous week, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday.
According to the DOH's weekly case bulletin, the daily case average for the week was 188.
From May 16 to 22, DOH recorded 1,214 cases for an average of 173 per day.
The DOH also reported 12 new severe and critical cases but with zero deaths last week.
Meanwhile, 4,073 or 17.2% of non-intensive care unit beds are occupied while 459 or 16.8% of ICU beds are in use.
Data also showed that 679 or 12.3% of COVID-19 admissions are severe and critical condition.
OCTA Research said that the National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a "very slow" increase in COVID-19 infections in the recent week as its daily case average went up by 2% from the previous week.
In a tweet, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David showed data that the daily average of new COVID-19 cases recorded from May 23 to May 29 was 74 -- a slight increase of 2% from the 72 recorded from May 16 to May 22.
The one week average daily attack rate (ADAR) in the region also rose from 0.51 to 0.52, but remained less than 1 or under the "very low" category.
ADAR pertains to the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 persons.--LDF, GMA News
