DPWH-XI turns over maintenance of esplanade to Davao City government
The newly built Gulf View Esplanade (GVE) is now open to the public. The facility is under the supervision and maintenance of the city government after it was turned over by DPWH-XI to the Davao City lgu last week.
As earlier reported, the esplanade is part of the Davao City Coastal Road Project (DCCRP).
The GVE covers some 5.5 hectares with the esplanade in Bago Aplaya included. The facility has bike lanes, walkways, playground, dog park, and skate park. Another esplanade along Times Beach area is also being developed.
The DCCRP is composed of four segments, namely, Segment A from Bago Aplaya to Times Beach; Segment B: Times Beach to Roxas Avenue; Segment C: Roxas Avenue to Sta. Ana Wharf; and Segment D: Sta. Ana Wharf to R. Castillo. Project completion is expected by early part of 2024.
The coastal road is an alternative route inorder to ease traffic at the national highway especially during peak hours. It will also serve as a diversion road for inter-provincial and regional transport movement.
The Davao City Coastal Road Project covers about 17.352 kilometers.
