Sonia Malaluan, Marina OIC-administrator

SERVING Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) for thirty-two years, Department of Transportation (DoTr) has designated Sonia Malaluan as officer in charge (OIC) administrator of Marina until July 31, 2022, or until a replacement has been appointed.
Malaluan has been serving Marina for 32 years and held top positions such as OIC-deputy administrator for planning, director of Marina Regional Office-National Capital Region and maritime attaché in London.
She played a major role in several Marina organizational changes, including crafting of the Marina Roadmap for the development of the country's domestic shipping industry, which is part of the 10-year Maritime Industry Development Program, as well as other policies, rules and regulations.
Malaluan, a staunch advocate of women empowerment and equality was the Women in Maritime-Philippines (WIMAPhil) Marina sub-chapter president for four years. She's also member of the Governing Council of the Women in Maritime-Asia.
Malaluan, a certified public accountant, finished her Master in Public Administration at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. She obtained her Master of Science in Shipping Management at the World Maritime University in Sweden and her Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Accounting at the University of Batangas.
